These Terms and Conditions are an agreement between you, the parent or legal guardian, and TailTutors. Please read them carefully. By agreeing, you accept them for yourself and for every child who uses TailTutors through your account.
TailTutors is an educational reading service made for children, but accounts may only be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where they live). Children may not create accounts, accept these Terms, or make purchases.
By creating an account you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of every child profile you add, or that you have that parent's or guardian's verified permission.
You are fully responsible for all activity on your account and on every child profile, including use you did not see, did not know about, or did not authorize, such as use by siblings, friends, classmates, or any other minor who gains access to a device where you are signed in.
You agree to supervise your child's use, keep your password private, sign out on shared devices, and tell us right away if you think someone used your account without permission.
TailTutors is a learning aid. It does not replace a teacher, tutor, reading specialist, or medical or educational assessment.
We collect only what we need to run the service: your email, each child's first name or nickname, grade level, interests you enter, learning progress, pet choices, stories created, and read-aloud results such as words per minute and missed words.
By agreeing, you give verifiable parental consent for us to collect and use this information for your child's learning, as required by children's privacy laws such as COPPA in the United States and GDPR-K in the EU and UK.
Please do not enter your child's full name, address, school, photos, or other identifying details in any text box or spoken answer.
We do not sell children's information or use it for advertising. You can review, change, or delete any child profile and its data at any time from the Parent Dashboard. Deleting a profile removes its progress permanently.
The reading coach and story ideas can use the device microphone, but only after you or your child tap the microphone button and the browser asks for permission. Speech is turned into text by the browser on the device. We save only the text results needed for learning, never audio recordings.
You can deny or remove microphone permission in your browser at any time and type instead.
Stories, worksheets, questions, and pet speech are made by artificial intelligence. We design them to be safe and age-appropriate, but AI can sometimes make mistakes or produce unexpected content. You agree to review content as needed and to report anything inappropriate to us.
TailTutors makes no promise that AI content is always accurate, complete, or suitable, and is not liable for it to the fullest extent the law allows.
Coins, pets, food, toys, outfits, and furniture are virtual rewards for learning. They have no money value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and may be changed or reset. Any future real-money purchase will require a parent's approval.
You and your child agree not to misuse the service: no harmful, hateful, or adult content in text or voice input, no attempts to break, copy, or reverse-engineer TailTutors, and no use for anything other than personal home learning. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
Reading levels, words-per-minute scores, certificates, and progress reports are estimates meant to encourage learning. They are not official test scores, and TailTutors does not guarantee that any child will reach a particular grade level.
TailTutors is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TailTutors and its owners, staff, and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any harm arising from a minor's use of the service, whether that use was known or unknown to the parent. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the law where you live.
You agree to defend and hold harmless TailTutors from claims, losses, and costs that arise from your account, your child's use, or the use of any minor who accesses the service through your account or devices, including use you did not know about or authorize.
We may update these Terms. When we make a significant change, we will ask you to agree again before you keep using TailTutors. You can stop using TailTutors and delete your child profiles at any time.
